Organic chemical synthesis and structural analysis. Synthesis of surfactants, chemical manipulation of biopolymers, supramolecular chemistry of fullerenes and single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCN). Application of spinning disc processor (SDP) for nanoparticle formation. Structure elucidation techniques (NMR, FTIR, MS, UV-vis, and X-ray diffraction).

Contribution to the Centre

Synthesis and characterisation of surfactants, modification of biopolymers and formation of nanoparticles applying SDP. Participation in seminars, workshops and various activities of the centre.

Current Projects in the Centre

• Novel surfactants based on macrocyclic Nickel complexes (with Colin Raston)
• Modified biopolymers for stabilising nano-particles (with Colin Raston, Mohamed Makha)
