Dr Martin Saunders
BSc(Hons), PhD, CPhys, MInstP
Expertise
Development and application of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) techniques for the structural, compositional and chemical characterisation of materials at the nano and atomic scales. Simulation and computational analysis of TEM data, including quantitative diffraction, energy-filtered TEM and HREM.
Contribution to the Centre
Characterisation of nano-structured materials using TEM techniques such as high-resolution imaging, energy-filtered TEM, electron energy-loss spectroscopy, STEM and electron diffraction. Development of novel methods for the analysis of TEM data from nanomaterials. Direction and supervision of research projects involving TEM characterisation of nanomaterials. Provision of advice, training and support to researchers conducting TEM analysis.
