Dr Peta Clode
BSc(Hons), PhD
Expertise
Biological microscopy, including optical (light, fluorescence, confocal) electron (SEM, TEM) and ion microscopy (NanoSIMS), and analytical methods (EDS x-ray microanalysis, EFTEM). Cell structure - function relationships; metal and ion uptake by cells.
Contribution to the Centre
The characterisation of fine scale structural and functional changes that occur in biological tissues in response to nanoparticle exposure. This will principally be in the areas of optical (light, fluorescence, confocal) and electron (SEM, TEM, analytical methods) microscopy, where my position within the CMM provides me with access to a wide range of state-of-the-art microscopy equipment. I will also provide advice, training and support to other Centre colleagues involved in microscopy aspects of the Centre’s activities.
Current Projects in the Centre
- Nanotoxicology in cells (under development with Raston, Swaminathan and Filgueira)
Grants and research contracts relevant to Centre activities
- NIH - Filgueira, Clode & Saunders ‘Metal processing by dendritic cells and osteoclasts’ $357,000 2005-2007.
Relevant ARC Networks
- Member of the ARC Nanotechnology Network.
