Associate Professor Philip Burcham

Expertise

Toxicity assessment using in vitro models, chemical mechanisms of xenobiotic-induced toxicity, immunochemical assessment of protein adduction, mechanisms of pharmacological cytoprotection against chemical toxicity.

Contribution to the Centre

Bioassays of toxic potential of nanoparticles, clarification of biochemical and molecular pathways of cell injury by nanotechnology products.

Grants and research contracts relevant to Centre activities

NHMRC Project Grant, Pharmacological strategy for blocking lung cell damage by toxic smoke constituents (2006 to 2008, held in conjunction with Dr Simon Pyke, Chemistry, University of Adelaide).
